Poppy here, Poppy there
Glenna chose gorgeous dark shades for her Poppy, while Robin went her own way and adjusted the design to suit her style.

Marisol's is definitely the foxiest Poppy shot i've seen so far!
hey, i'm a little behind on updating photos. if i've promised to add yours and i haven't already, feel free to give me a gentle nudge.
this is the first non-Noro Poppy that i've seen and it is absolutely lovely. great job, karin!
Paige of Modern Yarn chose warm, autumnal colors for her Poppy.
All the Poppies just keep getting cuter and cuter! Becki looks lovely in hers!
it looks like we'll be seeing a lot of Poppies soon. Stephannie is getting rave reviews on hers!
the Fabulous Ms. Scout is hosting a Poppy-A-Long. sign up, grab a button, and get your Poppy on!
don't forget that the Poppy pattern is also available in 3 larger sizes (beyond the sizes in the book). to receive the numbers for the larger Poppy sizes please send an email with the subject header poppy extra sizes. the replies will be sent out automatically, so in order for this to work the subject must say poppy extra sizes, no more, no less. you will still need to purchase the book in order to have the full instructions for knitting Poppy.
Poppy errata can be found here.
Shannon has almost completed her Poppy. she just has to crochet around the edges. i know that i rave about every Poppy that i see. however, as far as choice of colors is concerned, this is definitely my favorite so far! it's just so lovely! i don't think i've ever seen this color of SIlk Garden before. i can't wait to see Shannon wearing it!
if i were to knit another Poppy, i think i'd choose colors similar to Carol's. this one's going to look really great with a pair of old, faded jeans.
in the book there is one size missing in the cast on numbers. the cast on numbers for Poppy should read 56(58, 60, 62, 62) sts.
it's so exciting to see all the Yarnplay projects in progress! carol's Poppy looks great!
michelle chose some really gorgeous colors for her Poppy.
tricoquelicot has picked some interesting colors for her Chelsea. i'm looking forward to seeing it knit up!
and check out the Chelsea in progress at Yarn It!
if you have a Yarnplay project in progress or pics of a completed project that you would like to share please email me!
under shape sleeve caps the remaining stitch count after the bind offs should read as follows; 48 (50, 51, 53, 53).
to receive the numbers for the larger Poppy sizes please send an email with the subject header poppy extra sizes. the replies will be sent out automatically, so in order for this to work the subject must say poppy extra sizes, no more, no less. i will not be reading nor responding to these emails. this request will only be replied to through the address in this post. please do not use the mylifeinstitches addy.
happy knitting!
i should have the numbers for the larger sizes of Poppy by the middle of next week. have a lovely weekend and happy knitting!
due to popular request, the Poppy pattern will soon be available in sizes 42", 44", and 46". you will still need to purchase the book in order to have the full pattern and knitting instructions. i will only be providing the additional numbers for the larger sizes. please don't write to me and tell me that you left your book on the subway or that it's saturday and that you left it at the office and can't retrieve it until monday and that you must cast on now or that you only want to knit Poppy so you don't really want to buy the entire book. posting the full pattern would be a violation of my contract. selling the pattern separately would be violation of my contract. so neither of those things is going to happen. what will happen is that when the numbers become available (hopefully, within the next 1-2 weeks) i will post them here and if you're knowledgeable enough to knit a sweater you will know how to fill in the blanks. happy knitting!
michelle wrote a terrific post on the Poppy pattern and the Fibonacci sequence.
Poppy is my favorite sweater in Yarnplay. it was so much fun to knit! it's exciting to decide where you want to place garter stitch ridges and where you want to knit stripes in Silk Garden. i am really looking forward to seeing what you guys do with this pattern! i'd really like to knit one in shades of blue, but who knows when i'll get around to making that happen! please email me photos of your completed Poppy and i'll post them here.
now for a little errata business... there is a slight inconsistency amongst the schematics when it comes to sleeves. the sleeve schematic for Poppy gives measurements for the entire sleeve, including the sleeve cap. the measurements to the underarms are as follows; 20" (20", 20", 20.5", 20.5"). as you can see in the photo below this is meant to be a super long sleeve. if you want to lose an inch on the sleeve i suggest working 1 less round between increases, to lose 2 inches work 2 fewer rounds between increases. remember to subtract that inch or two from the the final sleeve measurement to armhole!
